Glenspean Lodge is surrounded by 5 acres of landscaped gardens, with views across to the well known Monessie Gorge and down the Spean Valley to Aonach Mor and the Nevis Range. The gardens are open for our guests to wander in, or sit at on the terraces and enjoy a drink particularly during the summer months.
Gardens   Originally, Glenspean Lodge was part of one of the largest private estates in Scotland. The estate's boundaries stretched up Loch Ness to Inverness and across the Cairngorms. Over the years, in the most part during the 1950's to 1970's, the estate was sold off to create smaller hunting estates. Glenspean Lodge was a favourite with the 'hunting and shooting' set of the 1920's and 1930's. One of the then estate's most famous guests was apparently King Edward the VII who visited the estate as a guest of then Laird Mackintosh.

There are many stories to tell of the old estate. Laird Mackintosh's portrait still hangs proudly in its own little cubby hole. Guest books on display from years gone by tell of people from far and wide, and the outbuildings still have a full garage and pit where the staff had to maintain the fleet of Bentleys left here to pick up the rich guests when they embarked at Tulloch or Roy Bridge stations from the likes of Edinburgh, Glasgow and England, who would then spend their time at Glenspean Lodge hunting and partying.

Those days are gone now, but the memories are still floating around the Lodge. Today, the majority of our guests are people seeking the splendour and solitude of the Highlands, who enjoy hill climbing and mountaineering, sightseeing and travelling around this splendid and sparsely inhabited part of the world, or those just seeking a place where they can relax, enjoy good surroundings, excellent cuisine and whiskey or two.
